Annual Recognition Awards

 

OUTSTANDING EDUCATOR AWARD

The recipient of this award will be employed in the field of education.  The person need not be a teacher.  All personnel connected with education from preschool through the university shall be eligible.  The award shall be given to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the field of education to children, youth, and/or adults with learning disabilities.  The recipient need not be a member of LDA-IA.

   

HELPING HANDS AWARD

This is the highest honor granted by LDA-IA. The recipient will have made an outstanding contribution directly or indirectly to children, youth, and/or adults with learning disabilities. The recipient shall be or has been a member of LDA-IA

   

ORGANIZATION AWARD

This award may be given to an organization that has accomplished an outstanding job in promoting the general welfare of individuals with learning disabilities.

   

ZEIGLER TRANSITION AWARD

The recipient of this award shall be an individual, service, or organization who has extended, during the previous calendar or present year, an exceptionally helpful or creative service specifically tailored to the transition needs (especially vocational and/or independent living skills) of a young adult or adult with learning disabilities.  This person need not be a member of LDA-IA. The LDA-IA awards committee, in conjunction with the LDA-IA Education Committee, shall select the recipient.

 

 

 

APPRECIATION AWARD

The recipient may be a professional or a parent who has contributed to the field of learning disabilities in the State of Iowa through education or through a related field such as medicine or law.  The service being recognized may either have been performed in the past or during the present year.  The recipient need not be a member of LDA-IA.

 

 

 

 

PRESIDENT'S AWARD

This award may be given by the LDA-IA president to an individual who has provided outstanding service to LDA-IA during the year.

 

Nominations are open for all awards except the President's Award.

DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS IS OCTOBER 1, 2011

Only members may submit nominations.

Awards will be presented Sunday, October 23rd, at the LDA-IA conference in Des Moines.
